Coffee Buyer’s Guide:
HOW TO FIND THE BEST FLAVORED COFFEE BEANS?
ROAST
When selecting a flavored coffee, the roast type is important to consider. Coffee beans are roasted for three different durations to produce light roast, medium roast, and dark roast. Lighter roasts have more caffeine than darker roasts and often allow more flavor to come through. Medium and dark roasts tend to be more bitter and have a more subtle flavor in the form of an undertone or aftertaste.
PRICE
At Caruso’s, prices for our premium flavored blends span from $13 to $18 per bag. This is a standard range for gourmet flavored coffee due to the additional steps to flavor the beans.
QUANTITY
Due to the short shelf life of coffee beans, ground and whole bean bags are commonly 10oz or 12oz. If you are hoping to enjoy the flavor up until the last cup, make sure you purchase the right size bag to avoid losing flavor. It’s also recommended to store your coffee grounds in an airtight container to stretch the life and flavor.
PROCESS
Adding flavoring to coffee beans is one of the final stages of the roasting process. After the beans come out of the roaster and begin cooling, they are mixed with flavored syrup that begins to absorb into the beans.
HOW IS FLAVORED COFFEE PREPARED AT CARUSO’S?
All coffee at Caruso’s begins with freshly roasted Arabica beans.
We have close relationships with our small, trusted importers in Central and South America.
Once we receive the gourmet coffee beans, we begin roasting at our facility in Brecksville, OH. From here, we add the necessary flavoring and syrups to be infused into the coffee beans. After about 15 minutes, the beans are removed from the flavoring and continue the cooling process.
In addition to being freshly roasted, we are Fair Trade registered, meaning our supply chain meets equitable sustainability and labor standards.

Absolutely! Many experienced coffee connoisseurs have experimented with blending different types of beans to create unique flavors.
Unless the bag mentions decaf, expect flavored coffees to contain caffeine. The level of caffeine the blend has depends on how it was roasted. The lighter the roast, the higher the caffeine content.
If you are looking for rich flavors of chocolate, caramel, or spices, try to find a lighter roast. Darker roasts have a more bitter taste that can prevent added flavors from coming out. But if you enjoy the subtle undertones of unique flavors, seek out a dark roast.
You found the place! Caruso’s offers a selection of coffee flavors in whole bean, pre-ground, and single-serve varieties. Choose from a unique blend of flavors or keep it simple with a pumpkin spice or hazelnut.
